Low Roar – Low Roar

Low Roar’s dreamy folk finds beauty in the somber side of life. Formerly the frontman of Oakland, California alt-rockers Audrye Sessions, Ryan Joseph Karazija began Low Roar as a response to the change and loneliness he felt in the wake of moving to Reykjavík, Iceland. He chronicled the challenges of acclimating to a foreign land, finding work, and supporting his family by writing a song each day, the results of which appeared in November 2011 on this debut record. The release for Tonequake Records featured loops and layers of guitar, harp, pump organ, percussion, and keyboard against Karazija’s clear, mellow vocals and plaintive lyrics.

Amazon ‘This is the self-titled debut album of Icelandic band Low Roar released in 2011. After moving from Livemore, California to Reykjavík, Iceland lead singer Ryan Karazija chronicled the difficulty of acclimating to a foreign land, finding work, and supporting his family by writing a song each day, the results of which appeared in November 2011 on the debut record. Low Roar album draws from ambient influences, especially on single, Tonight, Tonight, Tonight, a sultry electro-washed song, recalling late 1990s era Radiohead. The album takes the listener on Ryan s unsettled journey with yearning choruses and haunting strings in simple, yet stark, classical arrangements, alongside optimistic melodies and folk-styled songs. Combining elements of post rock with minimalist tones and sonically aligning with the change and introversion of fall.’
